About YBF

The York Butter Factory is the coworking space and community for Melbourne's early-stage technology entrepreneurs.

Learn more about our history and our vision for the future below.

Our History

Established in 2011 inside an 1850s heritage-listed space, we’re the home to startups with bold and global ambitions to change the world. The brilliant bluestone warehouse that we’ve inherited is the ultimate juxtaposition of old and new, allowing us to build tech startups out of one of Melbourne’s oldest structures.

Our 577sqm space holds two floors, an open plan coworking space, informal collaborative/cafe area, meeting rooms, an industrial fridge, and room for up to 60 entrepreneurs on any given day.

Our Vision is Simple

Environment

To provide an environment where the best entrepreneurs can #GSD or Get Shit Done

Community

To create an active community of entrepreneurs, mentors, and investors who share ideas and experience

Success

To put Australian startups on the global map, and provide a platform for our startups to succeed

Our History

Since opening our doors in 2011, we have rapidly established ourselves at the center of a rapidly growing startup ecosystem in Melbourne and currently host over 50 startups, largely in the B2B and Enterprise space.

We believe in a culture of collaboration, resource sharing and tough love to achieve mutual wins and to promote the cross-pollination of experience and ideas.

Opportunities to access funding is through the tech-focused Venture Capital fund run out of the York Butter Factory, as well as seed funding via the Aurelius Digital angel investment network.

The York Butter Factory was cofounded by partners of Adventure Capital, who run their early-stage technology Venture Fund out of the space.
